Populations of Focus
The Institute for Advanced Medicine provides primary and specialty care to all communities. Originally begun as a program for HIV+ people, the Institute for Advanced Medicine is now available to anyone, regardless of your status. Providing quality care is our concern, and we take most major commercial insurance plans, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. We may be able to help you get health insurance if you do not have it already. We house special programs geared to specific populations, including:
- Sexually active young adults
- Populations affected by HIV
- Older adults
- Spanish-speaking populations
- LGBTQ+
- Individuals with a history of mental health or substance use issues
Specialized Programs
Our specialized programs include:
People Living With HIV Who Need Help Adjusting to Taking Their Medication
Our Accelerating Implementation of Multilevel-Strategies to Advance Long-Acting Injectables for Underserved Populations helps people with sustained load suppression, and those who are newly diagnosed or new to HIV treatment.
People at High Risk for HIV or Taking PrEP
Our HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Program provides supportive services. We offer outreach and educational activities for patients and providers, and PrEP clinical education. In addition, we can give you long-acting PrEP injections so you don’t have to take a pill every day. Our TelePrEP Program is an advanced initiative that expands access to PrEP services for HIV prevention through virtual health care.
Sexually Active Young Men of Color
The Young Adult Sexual Services Program screens for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for men of color ages 13-29. We want you to know your HIV status, and we identify any STIs that need treatment. We provide expanded HIV/STI/hepatitis C prevention and treatment services to those without HIV. Services include:
- HIV and STI screening
- HIV and STI prevention education
- PEP
- PrEP and TelePrEP
- Mental health services
- Entitlement assistance
We can also connect you to primary care, mental health care, and case management services.
People Who Are Low-Income, Living With HIV, and Have an Unsuppressed Viral Load or Are at Risk for Virologic Rebound
Our Care Coordination Program helps people living with HIV whose income is below 500 percent of the federal poverty line. We strive to improve your HIV viral load and immunological health, and reduce HIV-related mortality.
